🌿 Leura Gardens Resort – Autumn Horticulture Report 2025

As autumn draws to a close, we’re excited to share the seasonal updates from our gardens. Our team has been hard at work maintaining and enhancing the grounds to ensure Leura Gardens Resort remains a beautiful and welcoming retreat for all guests.

🏡 Cottage Garden Refresh

Outside Bedroom 1 of the Cottage, we removed the Boston Ivy (Parthenocissus tricuspidata) that had been growing along the building. The garden bed had become cluttered with random plants and bulbs, so we gave it a fresh, structured look.

New plantings include:

  • Boronia ‘Mirabelle’ – A fragrant shrub with pink, bell-shaped flowers that bloom in late winter.
  • Lomandra ‘Lime Tuff’ – A hardy, frost-tolerant grass ideal for the Blue Mountains climate.
  • Hebe Hybrid ‘Emerald Green’ – A compact evergreen perfect for borders and pathways.

This combination brings structure, seasonal interest, and resilience to the space.

🧼 Pool Block Maintenance

Despite the heavy rainfall this season, we made productive use of the downtime by pressure washing the footpaths around the pool block (Rooms 113–120). This not only improves appearance but also ensures safety for guests navigating the area.

🌳 Access Strip – Apartment Block & Neighbouring Property

We cleared overgrown shrubs along the access strip near the apartment block and neighbouring property. This work was essential to maintain clear access for our arborist, Rolley, who will be stump grinding council-approved trees in the area.

Before and after photos show a dramatic improvement in accessibility and tidiness.

🐾 Pet-Friendly Zones – Leaf Cleanup

Autumn leaves were cleared from our pet-friendly areas, and light trimming was carried out to keep these spaces clean and safe for our four-legged guests. Maintaining these areas ensures a pleasant experience for all visitors — human and animal alike.

🌹 Rose Garden – Winter Preparation

Leura Gardens Resort is home to a stunning collection of roses, including varieties such as:

  • Iceberg
  • Showpiece
  • Floribunda

At the end of June, we prune all rose bushes back to their first-year growth to help them withstand the harsh winter frost. Each bush is shaped into a vase-like form, surrounded by a well, and treated with:

  • Slow-release fertiliser (Sudden Impact)
  • A deep watering with Seasol

This careful preparation ensures a vibrant and healthy bloom in spring, with roses bursting in shades of red, pink, and white.

🌼 Airbnb Garden Enhancements

We continued planting in the Airbnb garden area, adding new species to enhance the visual appeal and seasonal colour. These updates help create a warm and inviting atmosphere for our guests staying in this space.
